CLP History

  • Camp Little People was created to allow those of short statue to enjoy a camping experience along with their families.
  • Started in 1997 by Joyce Davis, whose daughter has achondroplasia dwarfism. Joyce wanted to provide a camping experience for her daughter and other children with dwarfism.
  • During the first two years, camp was held in their backyard. It was attended by 40 other children and their families. They pitched tents, played games, attended the Benton Rodeo, and enjoyed the backyard pool.
  • Over the years the attendance grew too large for their backyard. So the camp was moved to the facilities at Camp Victory in Millville Pa. Camp Victory is a camping facility designed for children that are chronically or physically challenged.

What is there to do at Camp Little People?

  • One thing that there is plenty of at Camp Little People is FUN! Joyce Davis and the camp counselors at CLP have packed so many activities into a 2 day camping experience, it's impossible to be bored while at camp.

Camp Victory is fully handicap accessible.

  • All the walk paths through out the camp are paved, to allow easy access for scooters.
  • We also have 4-5 golf carts at camp. Designated Camp Staff drivers offer rides to all campers who need assistance getting around.
  • Bicycles are the best mode of transportation at camp.

There are twelve cabins at camp which are the sleeping quarters:

  • Each cabin has 10 bunk beds which sleep 20.
  • Each cabin has its own bathroom, comprising of a sink and commode. Some have showers. A bath house exists for the cabins that don't.
  • Most cabins have heat. All have ceiling fans.

All meals are included with camp fees.

  • Meals are prepared by Camp Victory staff.
  • Chef Daryl Edelman oversees all meals.
  • There are two dining halls under one roof, capable of seating in excess of 250.
  • And unlike other camps, we eat quite well at Camp Little People. Saturday's traditional dinner, BBQ chicken cooked over a fire, with all the fixin's- Yum!
